Canary Islands - Property Investor's Paradise

The Canary Islands are a popular destination for holiday makers and have a lot to offer the visitor which means that they have a lot to offer the property investor.  Property on the Canaries is some of the most sought after in Europe and not just because of the archipelago’s all year season and more than reasonable purchase prices.  Of all the Canary Islands of which property for sale is available, Fuerteventura is quickly becoming the favourite.  If you decide to buy a property in Fuerteventura, especially for investment purposes, you can be sure that you will get an excellent return on your investment especially if you decide on buying a new construction or off plan property straight from the developer.

Why the Canary Islands?

The Canary Islands are in the Atlantic Ocean off the northwest coast of Africa and have been part of Spain since 1479. They have become known as the “7 islands with 7 worlds” and even the briefest visit to each of these unique sun kissed islands will show you why.  Each island has its own separate history and culture, its own geography, flora and fauna and its own individual character.

Originally the area survived through agriculture and wine making but in the 1920’s the Canary Islands started to attract  tourists when physicians would recommend the area to their patients as a place to recuperate because of the mild climate and short travel time.  The mildness of the Canarian climate combined with the stunning beaches and the position so easily accessible to most of Europe have ensured that they have become one of the main sun and beach tourist destinations in the World.  Nowadays, the Canary Islands attract millions of visitors each year from all around the world and tourism is definitely the strongest of the engines that drive this archipelago’s economy.

Because of the many things that these islands offer the visitor the Canaries are renowned for having the highest statistics for return visitors than almost any other holiday destination. This archipelago offers the tourist much more than fun in the sun; it offers unique treasures which form a basic part of the Canarian culture and a natural beauty which can not be found outside of these seven islands which keeps people returning time and time again.  For example:

  • The islands are all volcanic, something that is more noticeable on some islands rather than others.  For example in Lanzarote, you can visit the Timanfaya National Park which is an area which allows you to get close to the heat from the Earth’s core or The National Park of Garajonay in La Gomera, the Teide National Park in Tenerife and Caldera National Park in Taburiente which all boast some amazing rock formations and lava flows.

  • The sea around the Canary Islands is teaming with life.  Among the innumerable species of wildlife there are marlin, tuna, sting rays, sharks and dolphins to name but a few.  The Canaries also boast the fact that  they are home to 26 of the 80 species of all the whales which exist in the world including a permanent base for over 150 short finned pilot whales which can only be found in 2 other places. All the islands offer a wide range of unique whale watching excursions.

  • Another unique aspect of the Canary Islands is the clear skies that can be seen from the peaks of La Palma and Tenerife.  These peaks attract astronomers and astrophysicists from around the World as they are two of the very few places in the World in which all the conditions required by modern astronomy for watching the sky are met.  This has resulted in La Palma and Tenerife becoming the headquarters for the World's most advanced telescopes.
