With
year-round sunshine, Fuerteventura is
an attractive place to live. Increasingly more people are deciding to settle on the island permanently; long term rental property is therefore very popular.
Long term rental accommodation has
been difficult to find on the island in the past, but now rental
and property management companies can help you in your quest and hopefully you can even arrange something
from the UK via the internet.
A
large number of long let properties are advertised by a sign in the window, and most owners will want to see a prospective tenant before entering into an agreement
with them, this is where the services of a rental and property management
company come into their own as they carry out all the vetting that
is necessary and have a database of property that is available. With
the increase of building in some resorts, more long term rental property
is becoming increasingly available.
Rent depends on the type of property and its location,
but your rental and property management company can advise you. As in Tenerife and the other Canary Islands, water
and electricity may or may not be included in the rental price, so check this before signing any agreement. Normally a month’s deposit
and a month’s rent are required
in advance as a standard, sometimes more and many properties are
not pet friendly!
With more than one hundred and fifty beaches, three thousand hours of sunshine a year and a naturally peaceful environment it’s a very enticing place to settle down.
There are windmills, dotted all over Fuerteventura, (except in the area of Jandia), a testimony to the island's previous farming traditions. Many
of the windmills are now being restored as tourist centres with a view to recreating the landscape of their working past when Fuerteventura was known as the
granary of the Canary Islands.
The island is not just for sun and sea. Currently there is a boom in leisure
centres that invite tourists to discover different aspects of the
Island's landscape and culture. Some examples are;
Miguel de Unamuno Museum
-
Betancuria Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography
-
Tefia Craft Village
-
Morro Velosa Lookout
-
Molino de Antigua Craft Centre
-
Molinos de Tiscamanita Interpretation Centre.
