Tenerife Golf - Amarilla Golf and Country Club
This course will tease you, test you and delight you and
it couldn’t enjoy a better location.
Amarilla Golf and Country Club is a dedicated golf resort,
it was built with the golfer in mind and delivers the rare combination
of modern luxury and the raw charms of nature. Just to the west of the
main airport, Reina Sofia, and 15 minutes from the southern tourism hotspots
of Los Cristianos and Las Americas, it feels like it is set in its own
relaxed world.
When Donald Steel set about designing the 6,077 metre
course in 1989 he had plenty of help from the rugged land and the views
out to the Atlantic. Deciding to work with the land rather than against
it he came up with some interesting challenges for the golfer.
The first five holes hug the coast then move inland with
the mountain ranges providing a stunning backdrop, and as you reach the
end of your meander, the final three holes will keep you alert as you
face the large dark sand bunkers.
Hole five deserves special mention, the sea cuts into the
cliff leaving you with a small ravine to drive over before you reach
the green.
In 1990 Amarilla hosted the Tenerife Open, part of the
European PGA Tour and the players could hardly fail to be impressed at
the array of wild animals and plant life that inhabit the course. A coastal
path that skirts by the course is popular with walkers and bird watchers,
another example of the way that Amarilla blends into the environment.

Golf Property in Amarilla
That approach also applies to property on Amarilla, low
level luxury is the key and can be found in Sun Bay Villas and Island
Golf Villas. Both of these new developments have a pool to hand, large
gardens and are finished with superior materials.
Relaxing on your own property with great panoramic views
is certainly a great way to enjoy the Tenerife climate all year round.
Golf will always be a big draw and the facilities the Amarilla area offers
will ensure that your investment continues to bring you good returns.
There’s no need to feel guilty if you don’t
share the all consuming passion of most golfers, you can always take
it easy with just nine holes on the pitch and putt or retire to the tennis
courts, swimming pool, bar or restaurant. It’s all about horses
for courses, and guess what, the Amarilla
Golf and Country Club even have them at an on site equestrian centre.
