Los Palos - Pocket Perfection Even Tiger Woods was a cub at one stage, so if you want to dip your toes into the golfing ocean, Golf Los Palos is a great place to start. A 9 hole 914 metre course it may be but for facilities and convenience, it’s difficult to beat. Just 10 minutes from the lively resort centres of Los Cristianos and Las Americas, Los Palos sits in the shadow of Guaza Mountain close to Las Galletas, a small charming fishing village. Anyone expecting an easy round should think again as the one hour game will take in water hazards, bunkers and palm trees. Bbudding golf stars can enjoy the driving range, chipping and putting greens and lessons in a choice of languages. The kids are well looked after in a special playground and a terrace restaurant or snack bar will keep the hunger at bay. It may be a small course but it has taken on big responsibilities and is doing its bit for the environment by recycling water to spruce up the greens and using solar energy, for which of course, Tenerife gets plenty of sun. Prices are also on a small scale here, with a peak of €32.50 for a double round of 18 holes and lesser charges for residents and in the summer season. Golf school lessons are available for €40 for 50 minutes and there is a golf shop for all those little extras.
