Tenerife Information for Tourists and Resident Expatriates |
||||||||||
Despite ever more dire predictions of worldwide recession Tenerife showed a siginificant increase in tourist figures in May. Many holiday makers came from mainland Spain but there was a healthy growth in non-Spanish tourists too. On the heels of that we hear of a rather silly survey from Boots the Chemist in the UK which reported that Tenerife was the second most embarrassing holiday destination after Benidorm. Okay. Unfortunately some visitors do arrive in Las Americas and spend their fortnight swilling beer and getting an attractive stripey sunburn. Maybe they just don't know what an amazing variety of things to do Tenerife offers. There are many activities including scuba-diving, golfing, rock-climbing, quad biking, off road 4 x4, parasailing, horseriding, hiking, biking, spas and retreats. Whether you have an active day or spend it lounging round the pool or at the beach, quench your thirst at one of hundreds of great bars and take your pick from top clas restaurnats offering every kind of cuisine you can imagine. There are theme parks and shows galore too. While we all rattle our fingertips awaiting the grand opening of Siam Park, I can recommend Eagle Park (Aguilas Parque) - 5 minutes from Los Cristianos - for a great day out. An obstacle course keeps active kids of all ages busy as they happily clamber up and down ropes, fireman's poles and rigging and the raptor show is just magnificent. Just remember to stay seated and not to be eating anything while huge eagles and vultures swoop across the arena just missing your scalp by a feather or two. For a cultural day out, consider the free sightseeing tour which is offered by the La Laguna Tourist Office. Regular tours in Spanish only depart at 10:30, 12:.00 and 16:00 Monday to Friday and 10:30 and 12:30 on Saturday and Sunday. Organised tours tours in Spanish; English, German or French (between 9:00 and 17:00 each weekday) are also available. To organise an arranged sightseeing tour of La Laguna contact the Tourist Department by fax: 922608974 or email. The accommodation is just as varied with fabulous five star hotels or private villas offering every luxury to those who like to holiday in style to well-appointed self-catering apartments for the more independant tourist. Many people return to Tenerife for their holidays year after year and quite a few of them eventually decide to buy a property here. The first place to start of course is with a reputable and experienced English speaking estate agent who will guide you through the process of buying your new Tenerife property. A relatively new addition to eTenerife.com is the inclusion of articles related to buying property in Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Cape Verde. Going by the number of requests received for this type of information it would seem that many who are researching buying property in Tenerife are open to the investment potential of these other fabulous islands.

Tenerife Living and Leisure
Tenerife Business - Company ProfilesIn the early 2000's, it seemed that many Tenerife companies were reluctant to fully embrace the internet. Where a select few carved a little out of their overall advertising and marketing budget to test this new technology, many others dug in their heels and waited for the short-lived WWW trend to pass. Oh, how things have changed! Now, the brightest and best of Tenerife's professional and service industries are quick to take advantage of the new communications tools and have both database driven websites and daily updating blogs. If you are considering doing business of any kind in Tenerife, eTenerife's Company Profiles is a great place to start looking for professional services. Live RSS feeds allow a sneak peek at the company news and philosophy of the islands movers and shakers.
