There’s more to Tenerife than sun, sand and sangria. For those who can’t sit still long enough to get a suntan, there’s no end of sports and outdoor activites to enjoy. Here are a few ideas:
Water sports and activities:
The waters around the Canaries is teeming with sea life. That makes Tenerife and the other islands a magnet for scuba divers and snorkelers. However, there are even more activities on the water than there are in the water including windsurfing, kite surfing, paddleboarding and water skiing.
Hiking and hill walking:
Inland from the beaches and the coastal sports, Tenerife offers hikes and hillwalking to suit every level of walker. Whether accompanied by a local guide or following marked trails on your own, immerse yourself in the beautiful highlands of Teide National Park or the temperate forests and hills of Anaga Rural Park.
Tenerife offers a variety of terrains and scenic biking routes. There are routes to challenge the most competitive of cyclists. Professional cycling teams, such as Team Sky and Team Ineos, have both held training camps in Tenerife, as it makes a great destination for off-season when it is so much colder in the rest of Europe.
